Such a brilliant idea

Years ago, we always heard our Minister complained private sectors not really “interested” to organise or take part on Mederka celebration (celebration for the Independence day). Our Minister used to say they were not showing their “royalty or love” to Malaysia. Besides, Malaysians also be blamed not “interested” to have Malaysia flag up in front of their premises.

This year, Malaysia will celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the Independence. But, I read this news on mainstream newspaper online yesterday. At first, I thought I might understand it wrongly (because I was not enough sleep due to that stupid phone call from TM Net early in the morning). Well, I read it again this morning and I would like to ask what logic is that?

No private programmes on eve of Merdeka day

PUTRAJAYA: There will be no private sector-initiated programmes and activities on the eve of the 50th Merdeka celebration as “all eyes, ears, spirit and soul” should be on a major event that will be organised by the Government.

Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said since this year’s celebration was important and significant, the public should attend events organised by the Government so they could feel “the spirit of Merdeka in every sense of the word”.

“We have a special event in store and we want Malaysians from all walks of life to participate. We do not want any deviation of attention from the main celebration because apart from the traditional countdown, we will have a ceremony depicting the eve of Merdeka 50 years ago, including the lowering of the Union Jack.

May I ask, does the venue of the event HUGE enough for all Malaysians to come?

It just like our Parliament turned to slaughter area yesterday. Parliament is suitable for that purpose?

‘Bloodshed’ in Parliament

There was a mass slaughter on the Parliament grounds today and several MPs saw red, both literally and figuratively, over the incident.

[......]

Fong Po Kuan (DAP-Batu Gajah) said she was shocked when she saw the animals being brought into the Parliament grounds in a truck.

“If it a common practice, will it be acceptable for other MPs to slaughter ‘other’ animals here?” she asked.

When next?

By the way, I had slightly edited the logo for 50th Merdeka celebration (credit to the logo’s author Nor Azian A. Hasan). You are welcome to copy and paste it in your blog.
